Also, kids can drink at age 20, but I don’t think anyone cards here, so many students are taking advantage of this- Japan is pretty much on the honor system about everything- if you are too young to drink you are just expected not to drink. I guess the beer is pretty strong, but most Karaoke bars don’t serve sake or wine. Even if you drank everything you could for 2 hours, you still might not feel drunk. I am allergic to beer, so I can’t describe that, but mixed drinks here are mostly just juice, or whatever. So many kids go to another place- this night, we wandered around until we found an Irish bar that Jyo had found at one point. Also in Japan, they have what they call a second party, or an after party, usually because after being in the karaoke room for 2 hours, there is no more food or drink. It was a lot of fun, and some of the foreign kids are really into karaoke now. Here the karaoke rooms are private, just you and your friends, and you can usually get all you can drink and eat for 1000-2000 yen for 2 hours (about 8-16 dollars, depending on place).

It was a lot of fun- all of the International students, plus about 20 Japanese kids, too, all drinking and singing karaoke. They bought her a cake and they hung out having coffee and cake…Īfterward, we went to the party, which was located in a karaoke bar called the Tiki room. So the HI-C club (the club that is supposed to be helping the international students) had a party for us…some of us foreign kids had asked some of the HI-C members to take us because we had no idea where we were going, but they were having a birthday party for their friend, Akiko, who is a really awesome person.
